Following a local court direction, Raichur West police have registered a case against Mukkanna Karigar, Deputy Secretary of Raichur Zilla Panchayat, under Sections 153A and 295A of Indian Penal Code (IPC), here on Wednesday.
A local businessman and social activist Mr. Ramalingappa had filed a private complaint with judicial magistrate first class court here accusing Mr. Karigar of “promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion and race” by writing an article in a local daily.
The complainant had also accused that the author of the article had “deliberate and malicious intention of outraging religious feelings of a class of citizens” in writing the article.
The court had then directed the jurisdictional police to investigate the matter and submit the report on or before December 22, 2014.
