Demanding uninterrupted power supply in villages and for farm pumpsets in Raichur taluk, Tipparaju Hawaldar, MLA from Raichur Rural, launched a padayatra on Monday.

Addressing a gathering at the Panchamukhi Ganadal village, from where he began the padayatra, said that the State government had failed to address agrarian problems, more particularly the power crisis. “Thousands of acres of agriculture field, which are dependent on seasonal rain, are suffering heavy crop losses without water due to continuous interruption in power supply,” he said.

“It was the most unfortunate thing that we are not being supplied power, though 40 % of the State’s total power production comes from the district through the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS),” Mr. Hawaldar said.
