Quota for ULB posts will be out soon: Jayachandra

T.B. Jayachandra, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and district in charge, has said that reservation for the posts of president and vice-president of urban local bodies will be announced shortly.

Speaking to reporters in Tumkur on Saturday, Mr. Jayachandra said the announcement was withheld owing to Assembly elections. Now that the new government had been formed, the reservation list would be ready in three or four days.

He said all promises made by the Congress in its manifesto would be fulfilled, even if they caused a financial burden on the government.

He said 30 kg rice at Re.1 a kg for BPL card holders would be given from July 1. He said steps had been taken to buy rice from Kerala. Mr. Jayachandra said general transfers would be done after the legislature session. He said the government was seriously thinking of increasing seats for poor students in higher education.
