Film actor-turned-politician Ramya, who has been trolled on social media for her “Pakistan is not hell” remark, will now have to countenance a private complaint in a court in Somwarpet in Kodagu district and a postcard campaign in Mysuru.

Advocate K. Vittal Gowda filed a private complaint under Section 200 of the Cr. Pc in the first JMFC court in Somwarpet on Monday accusing Ramya of “insulting India” and “provoking the people of India” by “appreciating Pakistan, which is a “traditional enemy of India”.

The complainant has urged the court to register a case against the actor under Sections 124A of the IPC, which deals with Sedition, and Section 334 read with 511 of IPC for allegedly voluntarily causing hurt on provocation.

Judge Shyam Prakash has posted the hearing of the case for August 27.

Meanwhile, activists of Yuva Bharat, a pro-BJP organization in Mysuru launched a post-card campaign against the actor for her “pro-Pakistan” remarks.

‘Shift to Pakistan’

Convenor of Yuva Bharat, Jogi Manju, who is also the Vice-President of BJP’s Krishnaraja Assembly constituency unit, told The Hindu that their organisation sent a total of 150 post-cards to Ramya’s address in Bengaluru asking her to shift to Pakistan with her family.

The organisation’s activists gathered at Chamundipuram post office and sent the post-cards en-masse, he said. Ramya’s remarks were described as an “attack on Hindu culture and Hindu sentiments”.

If Ramya does not withdraw her remarks in two days, Mr Manju said the Hindu society will boycott her movies. Also, he urged the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to boycott the actor till she publicly apologises for her statement.
