Condemning the rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Vijayapura on Tuesday, members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, the Samajika Parivartana Janandolana, the Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane, the Prajna Kanoonu Salaha Samiti, the Bharat Gyan Vigyan, the Lingayat Samanvaya Samiti, the Muslim Naukarara Sangha and Don Bosco took out a march from Kannada Bhavan to Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kalaburagi on Thursday.

A placard stating “End the rape culture, Punish the rapists”, which was signed by the protesters, was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.

Expressing disgust at the rise in crime against women, K. Neela, State vice-president of the Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane, demanded that the government for stronger legislation against such heinous acts.
