PU student ends life

May 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - Mandya:

Depressed over her performance in the Second PU examination, M. Tanuja (18) allegedly ended her life by hanging from the ceiling beam at her residence here on Thursday night.

Ms. Tanuja, who completed her II PU at the PES Pre-University College by securing 75 per cent marks, committed suicide since the percentage of marks was less than the 85 per cent that her parents expected her to score, the Mandya West police said.

The girl went into a room on Thursday evening and locked it from inside. When she did not open the door even after several hours, the family members forcibly opened the door and found her hanging, the police said.

After conducting the post-mortem at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences hospital, the body was handed over to her parents on Friday.
