The BJP, which has been demanding action against Amnesty International India for being “anti-national,” staged a demonstration here on Wednesday.
Some members of the BJP's district unit blocked traffic on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway for a few minutes and demanded arrest of those who allegedly raised anti-India slogans at the event on Kashmir organised in Bengaluru recently. They also demanded that the investigation in the case filed against the Amnesty be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The agitators raised slogans against Amnesty for organising series of such “anti-national events” and the state government for filing cases against the ABVP. They condemned the police action against the ABVP members and demanded that the AII organisers be immediately banned.
The BJP workers threatened to intensify their protest aII across the district.
