Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty faction), here on Monday, staged a protest, demanding the district administration strengthen the hospital building of Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Leaky roof

The protesters urged Deputy Commissioner V. Chaitra to implement necessary measures immediately to strengthen the roof of the building as rainwater has been leaking at many places in the hospital.

Rainwater collected

Before staging a protest, the members held buckets to collect rainwater leaking from the roof near the main entrance of the hospital. Satish Patel, district president of the Vedike, said patients were being put at risk in the hospital as the roof had become weak over the years. Containers have been placed all around the hospital to collect rainwater leaking from the roof.

The Deputy Commissioner received the memorandum from the protesters and assured them that corrective measures would be implemented.
