Protest may lead to traffic snarls in Bengaluru on Tuesday

Rajya Sabha MP and CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury is expected to address the gathering at Freedom Park, Bengaluru.

Expect traffic snarls on the thoroughfares of Central Business District in Bengaluru on Tuesday, as hundreds of people from Kolar and Chikkaballapur will be taking out a procession from City Railway Station to Freedom Park seeking water supply to the two arid districts.

The protests led by Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha will also to register its opposition to Land Acquisition Ordinance, supported by other organisations.

Sangha vice president G.C. Bayya Reddy told The Hindu on Monday that affected people from the districts will be participating in the protest. Rajya Sabha MP and CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury is expected to address the gathering at Freedom Park.

The procession in Bengaluru is being supported by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Hasiru Sene, factions of Karnataka Rajya Dalit Sangharsha Samiti and Karnataka Prantha Krishi Kooligarara Sangha among others.
