The Software Technology Park of India (STPI) will be setting up an incubation facility for the benefit of start ups in Information Technology (IT) sector in Mysuru.
Disclosing this during his special address at the CII Mysuru IT conclave held here on Friday, Additional Director of STPI, Bengaluru, V. Mahadesha said the facility, spread across 40,000 sq ft on 3 acres of land in Hebbal given by the State government would house 200 seats.
The construction of the facility at a cost of Rs. 35 crore has been given to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The work, which is scheduled to begin in two weeks time, is likely to be completed in eighteen months.
The incubation centre is part of STPI’s endeavour to create an eco-system for start ups in Mysuru, said Mr. Mahadesha. Apart from developing the product innovation incubation centre, STPI seeks to facilitate funding through venture capitalists.
Smart cities
Meanwhile, Purushottam Kaushik, Managing Director, Sales, Growth Verticals, CISCO India and SAARC, delivering his key-note address on ‘India’s 100 Smart Cities: Road Ahead’, said there was a huge potential for IT companies to participate in the Centre’s plans to create digital cities.
Mr. Kaushik listed out opportunities for technological disruptions in a variety of areas including waste disposal, parking, traffic, water supply, pollution control, etc.
