For the nearly 354 families of Ekalavyanagar, the forthcoming Lok Sabha election is like any other polls. They were promised basic facilities including a roof over their heads during the Chamundeshwari byelection in 2006. Then came the 2008 Assembly elections followed by the 2009 Lok Sabha election and the 2013 Assembly elections. But things have moved at a snail’s pace if at all as nothing seems to have changed.
So far no political leader has visited Ekalavyanagar itself which is off K.R.S. Road and comes under Naganahalli Gram Panchayat. However, local political and social activists like T. Narayan and Revanna aver that houses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Project (JNNURM) were getting ready would be disbursed in due course.
“Party leaders may not come but as social workers attached to a party we ensure that the residents grievances are resolved. Nearly 1,040 houses are being constructed under JNNURM nearby and all the 354 families of Ekalavyanagar have been allotted units,” they added.
“We have drinking water and we only need a roof over our heads,” Krishnappa, a resident of the area, said. “People are a content lot though things can improve,” he added.
