The Kannada Film Producers' Association (KFPA), which had imposed a three-year ban on actor Nikita Thukral for allegedly “creating marital discord” in actor Darshan's family, lifted the ban on Thursday after it came in for criticism from the film industry.
The KFPA succumbed to pressure from many stakeholders of the industry. A statement by Parvathamma Rajkumar condemning the ban was the last straw.
Addressing presspersons here, KFPA president Munirathna said that he had committed “a series of mistakes”. including imposing the ban. In a letter to Ms. Thukral, he said: “Hereafter, the word ‘ban' has been ‘banned' in the film industry.”
Gratitude
Thanking KFPA for lifting the ban, Ms. Thukral expressed gratitude to all those who supported her in a time of crisis.
