A colourful procession was taken out in the main streets of the city on Tuesday as part of Bhagiratha Jayanti celebrations.

The portrait of the sage Bhagiratha in meditation was taken out as part of the procession.

Dollu Kunitha, Kolata folk art troupes and many others performed on the day.

Addressing a programme organised by the district administration on the occasion, K.B. Prasanna Kumar, MLA, Shivamogga, called upon people from Backward Classes to accord a greater priority to education.
