With the pre-university question paper leak still fresh in the minds of students, the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) is keen to assure those appearing for Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam starting on April 2 that they have no reason to be anxious.
Commissioner of the Department of Public Instruction Tushar Girinath told The Hindu here that this year, the invigilators will not be from the school which is the examination centre.
“The invigilator will be from a different school. Teachers of the subject for which the exam is being held will also not be allowed to invigilate,” he added.
To be prepared for the eventuality of having a shortage of invigilators meeting the above criteria, the department has decided to rope in head-teachers from primary schools as well, Mr. Girinath said.
KSEEB director D. Venkateshaiah said that all high-level officers of the Education Department, district-level officers of the department, district treasury officers, deputy commissioners and superintendents of police had held a video-conference on Thursday to ensure complete preparedness.
“Security for question papers is top priority and there will be adequate police security and escort,” said Mr. Venkateshaiah.
“The question papers will be as usual at confidential locations and reach the examination centres 30 minutes ahead of the commencement of the examination,” he said
He advised students not to heed rumours and speculations and concentrate on studies in the last few days before the exam.
Mr. Girinath maintained that there is no likelihood of the PUC episode being repeated for the SSLC examinations.
“We started our work in December itself. Our system is well designed and has stood the test of time. We are sending reminders of the duties of our staff to ensure that there is not even a small slip,” he said.
