The price of LED bulbs, sold by the State government under its ambitious Hosa Belaku scheme, has been slashed from Rs. 100 per bulb to Rs. 80.
According to a statement by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company here, electricity consumers can purchase the 9-watt LED bulbs at the counters of Ms Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) set up in the offices of CESC.
The meter readers, who visit the homes of electricity consumers every month, will also be given a small quantity of LED bulbs for the purpose of selling them to the consumers.
“If the meter readers have stock with them when they visit the houses, the consumers can buy. Or else, the consumers can register their names with the meter readers, who will deliver it later. The consumers should pay the amount only when the meter reader delivers the bulbs,” a source in the CESC said.
