Rain in the last 24 hours across Kalaburagi district brought the much-needed respite to people suffering from heat wave conditions.

Widespread pre-monsoon rainfall has brought the much-needed relief to the people of Hyderabad Karnataka and Mumbai Karnataka regions by bringing down the day and night temperatures substantially, as per the observations made by India Meteorological Department at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The mercury level had shot up to 43 degrees Celsius during last week, but fell to 38 degrees Celsius after Tuesday’s showers.

The pre-monsoon rain started on Tuesday evening and continued till Wednesday morning. Kalaburagi district received 36.5 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours as per the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre reports, till 8.30 am on Wednesday. The maximum rainfall was recorded in Khajuri (101 mm) followed by Aland town (82 mm) and Mahagaon Tanda (72 mm).

The district recorded 36.5 mm of rainfall against a normal of 4.1 mm. Aland received the highest rainfall of 76.3 mm against a normal of 5.7 mm. The following are the details of rainfall in the other taluks (normal rainfall is in bracket): Afzalpur 42 mm (4.6 mm), Chincholi 33.8 mm (2.7 mm), Chittapur 21 mm (3.5 mm), Kalaburagi 37.7 mm (5.3 mm), Jewargi 19.4 mm (4.6 mm) and Sedam taluk received 21.1mm (0.9 mm) rainfall.

According to sources, there were no reports of loss of life or damage to property.
