Pramod Melligatti, senior journalist, dead

Pramod Melligatti (65), senior journalist and former Special Correspondent of The Hindu , died of illness at a private hospital here on Friday.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

After working with Prajavani and Deccan Herald in Dharwad, Mr. Melligatti joined The Hindu in Shimoga in 1984. After his retirement in 2011, he used to contribute articles for March of Karnataka , a monthly magazine of the Department of Information.

He was a recipient of the Karnataka Media Academy award for 2006.

The last rites will be performed at the Rotary crematorium here on Saturday, according to family sources.
