Actor Pooja Gandhi appeared before the II Additional District and Sessions Court in Raichur on Monday in connection with a case involving alleged violation of the model code of conduct during the 2013 Assembly elections. The court had issued an arrest warrant against the actor after she failed to appear before it despite three summons being served in the past. Ms. Gandhi, who contested from the Raichur Assembly constituency on BSR Congress ticket, has been charged with using vehicles for the election campaign without the permission of the Election Commission.

Ms. Gandhi was present in the court hall well before the proceedings began in the morning. However, the judge adjourned the case to 3.30 p.m. the same day. After hearing the case, the judge again adjourned the case to March 23. Ms. Gandhi’s counsel Nagaraj said that the examination of witnesses was over and hearing is expected to be completed within a month.

“Now, BSR Congress has disintegrated and there is none to follow-up pending cases. I am following up the case in my own capacity,” she said.
