The Mysore city police have been on their toes since Wednesday night following rumours that serial rapist Jaishankar, who escaped from the Bangalore Central Prison a few days ago, was seen at a bar and restaurant in Nazarbad police station limits here.
A police team rushed to the bar and searched the premises and the area.
Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem told The Hindu that a photograph of Jaishankar was shown to the hotel staff. However, the staff said that it was not him. The police also checked CCTV footage captured at the bar. Mr. Saleem said that the CCTV footage confirmed it was not Jaishankar. Nonetheless, the police are on alert.
