Police find Arsikere girl in Rajasthan

The Hassan police have succeeded in tracing the minor girl from Arsikere, who was allegedly trafficked to Rajasthan.

A team of police officials, who reached Rajasthan on Monday, rescued the girl and are following the necessary procedures to bring her back to her native place.

On April 26, The Hindu had carried a report of the girl going missing from Arsikere in September 2016. Though her family’s search for her was in vain, no complaint was filed until the mother began receiving calls from her from Rajasthan a week ago. Her daughter told her that she had been sold to someone in Rajasthan. Her mother then filed a complaint with the district vigilance committee on April 22.

Following the report, Hassan police registered a complaint and sent a team to Rajasthan. R.K. Shahapurwad, Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu: “We have traced her, but have not interrogated her yet. Our officers in Rajasthan are investigating on how she landed there.”
