The Wilson garden police have cracked the Rs. 11.5 lakh robbery case and arrested six members of Tiruchi based inter-state gang who are involved in several cases of robbing.

The gang members, identified as Senthil Kumar, Velu, Kumareshan, Gaganathan, Rajesh and Shankar, approached the van driver of CMS Agency while he was waiting outside Karnataka Bank ATM on K.H. Road.

When the staff was were busy at the ATM depositing the cash, the security personnel waited outside to keep a watch. In the meantime the gang members diverted the attention of the driver.

As soon as the driver's attention was diverted, the gang picked up the bag containing Rs 11.5 lakh cash kept in the van.

The rushed to the spot and detained the driver and security personnel for questioning and analyzed the CCTV footage.

The police swung into action and spread around the area in an attempt to catch the burglars. They caught hold of two when they were waiting at the bus stop to catch a bus to Majestic.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Central Division) Sandeep Patil said that soon after the incident, the gang scattered and took different routes to go back to their native place.

Based on the information of the two arrested, the police picked up four others from Majestic and Tiruchi and recovered Rs 8 lakh. The police are looking out for others.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused have been involved in over two dozen cases across India.
