Plastic material seizedfrom Ballari shops

In a drive against plastics, around a tonne of plastic material were seized from several shops here on Monday.

The drive was conducted jointly by the city corporation and the district unit of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.

The raiding team, led by corporation Commissioner M.K. Nalawadi, visited several shops at the big and small markets and also on Car Street and seized cups and plates, among other plastic material, in the wake of ban imposed on its use.

Mr. Nalawadi said that another round of raid would be conducted soon with police protection. He said that the Pollution Control Board had been asked to register cases against shops violating the ban.
