The Mysore City Corporation has proposed to establish plastic baling units in each of the nine zero-waste management centres in the city. Ms. Haseen Taj said the units will facilitate recycling of plastic, which is segregated from the waste at the zero-waste manage-ment centres. A sum of Rs. 45 lakh has been set aside in the budget, she said.

The MCC, which has already declared its main building on Sayyaji Rao Road and its zonal offices as plastic-free, seeks to declare the entire city as plastic-free in the coming days, she said.
