The Planning Commission on Tuesday approved Karnataka’s Rs 31,050 crore plan outlay for the fiscal 2010—11.

The plan outlay of the State was finalized after a meeting between the Commission’s Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa.

“The plan size was agreed at Rs. 31,050 crore. This includes an additional central assistance of Rs. 65 crore for programmes of special assistance to the State,” an official statement said.

Mr. Ahluwalia also lauded Karnataka’s performance in the Information Technology sector, bio-technology and software exports.

Giving priority to the social sector, 45.4 per cent of the total plan outlay has been for it.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said a special package of Rs. 8,500 crore should be given for taking up infrastructure projects in Bangalore and funds for right to education should be in the ratio of 90:10.
