Physically challenged people told to utilise schemes

Mandya Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan on Wednesday asked the physically challenged people to utilise Government-sponsored schemes launched for their welfare.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘World Disabled Day’ programme at Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kala Mandir here.

The State government and various non-government organisations have been implementing various schemes/programmes for the welfare of physically challenged, he said.

Later, along with other officials, he felicitated physically challenged people from different fields.

Mandya District administration, Mandya zilla panchayat, Departments of Empowerment of Senior Citizens (DESC), Women and Child Welfare and Youth Empowerment and Sports had organised the programme.

Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC) president B. Siddaraju, vice-president Chandrakala Shivaram, ZP Chief Executive Officer Rohini Sindhuri, District Child Development Protection Unit Officer (CDPO) S. Diwakar, Mandya Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Meera Shivalingaiah and others were present.
