Availability of petrol and diesel is likely to be disrupted on April 23 following the decision of petroleum traders not to purchase any petroleum products from the oil marketing companies on that day.
According to a release from the Akhila Karnataka Federation of Petroleum Traders, they would be observing a one-day protest from the midnight of April 22 till the midnight of April 23, in response to a nation-wide protest call given by the Federation of All India Petroleum Traders. Petroleum outlets will only be selling existing stocks on the day, it said.
The protest, it said, has been called to urge the Petroleum Ministry to implement recommendations of the Apoorva Chandra Committee.
Dealers in the State are not only demanding a discussion on the Marketing Discipline Guidelines but are also seeking a price parity with neighbouring States as the rates of petrol and diesel are expensive here.
If the demands of the traders are not addressed, the release said, the federation members will opt for an indefinite closure of petroleum outlets from the midnight of April 29.
