Petrol, diesel stocks down

May 01, 2012 09:13 am | Updated July 11, 2016 12:48 pm IST - MYSORE:

Petrol and diesel stocks in the city have depleted due to non-arrival of containers, as a result of which there were lengthy queues in most city petrol bunks on Monday.

However, this glitch in supply has been attributed to shutdown in refineries due to water scarcity.

Hope

The situation is expected to improve by Tuesday. Dinesh, president of the Mysore Petroleum Dealers' Association, told The Hindu that petrol and diesel stocks had hit rock bottom due to non-arrival of oil containers since the last few days.

But they expect a container from Gujarat to replenish the stock on Tuesday.

He said the city required about 1.5 lakh litres of petrol a day and 2.5 to 3 lakh litres of diesel a day, but the stock had reached a low ebb due to disruption in production owing to water scarcity at MRPL in Mangalore and other factors.

However, there was no need for panic buying and hoarding as normalcy in supply is expected to be restored in two to three days, he added here on Monday.
