Pilla Munishamappa, Devanahalli MLA, has appealed to the residents of Sakleshpur taluk not to oppose the Yettinahole integrated drinking water project, considering the plight of people living in dry areas.

Mr. Munishamappa was speaking to presspersons during a stopover here on Saturday, on the way to the project site in Sakleshpur.

The people of Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts had been facing acute shortage of drinking water. Even 67 years after Independence, their problem had not been addressed. “We are hopeful of providing them with drinking water after implementing this project. The State government has approved the project with an estimated cost of over Rs. 13,000 crore. Nearly Rs. 1,000 crore has already been spent on the project. We wish, the project gets completed on schedule,” he said.

Mr. Munishamappa also urged the Sakleshpur people not to oppose the project.

“I request them to understand the problems being faced by the people of Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts and support the project,” he said.
