Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President G. Parameshwara clarified that he would contest the 2018 Assembly elections from his home constituency - Koratagere.
Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, the KPCC chief said he would not leave his home constituency and migrate to other constituencies during the next Assembly elections.
In fact, Dr. Parameshwara has undertaken several programmes in the constituency to prepare for the polls from Koratagere where he had lost the 2013 elections. He lost to P.R. Sudhakarlal of the Janata Dal (Secular), a political novice, and lost the race for the Chief Minister’s post in the process.
Former Minister C. Chennigappa of the JD(S) earlier represented the Koratagere constituency for three consecutive terms (1994, 1999, and 2004).
About the proposed Janashirvad rally, he said the rallies would be launched before the next polls. The party has its own model and not following the BJP’s model. He was non-committal on actress-turned-politician Ramya constesting elections.
