Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G. Parameshwara, who is perceived to be shadow boxing with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, gave the State government cent per cent marks for its two-year rule in the State.
“I will give it 10 out of 10”, Dr. Parameshwar told reporters when he was asked to rate the performance of the State government under Mr. Siddaramaiah.
Dr. Parameshwara, who had earlier given Narendra Modi government at the Centre “zero” marks, said the Siddaramaiah-led State government deserved full marks as all the short-term projects promised in the party manifesto had been implemented.
“I had toured the entire State with Mr. Siddaramaiah before the Assembly elections when we brought out the manifesto with 165 promises. In two years, most of the short-term promises have been fulfilled”, he said before adding that the long-term projects will need time for implementation.
Dr. Parameshwara cited the commissioning of Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya and other pro-people schemes also added to the credit of the State government. He also endorsed the State government’s decision to hand over the investigation into D.K. Ravi’s suicide and the single-digit lottery scam to the CBI.
In contrast, the Narendra Modi government, which had promised to control prices of essential commodities before the Lok Sabha elections, was a failure. While the price of tur dal had increased from Rs. 60 to Rs. 130 per kg, the Centre has been unable to pass the spin-off benefits of the decline in the price of crude oil in the international markets to the consumers in India.
Similarly, he said much publicised smart city and digital India promises of the Modi government were yet to see the light of the day. “Nobody knows what the smart city project is. Though Tumakuru is among one of the cities, where smart city project is to be implemented, I have no idea what it is all about”, he remarked.
Dr. Parameshwara also criticised Mr. Modi’s close aide and BJP’s national president Amit Shah’s remarks on abrogation of Article 370 and construction of Ram Temple. “The BJP is communalising politics. These statements show the party’s hidden agenda”, he added.
