The Department of Medical Education has constituted a three-member committee to probe into allegations against B.C. Ravikumar, director, Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS). The director has been accused of furnishing false certificates of his work experience to claim promotion in the institute.

A complaint had been filed with the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission alleging that the director had furnished false records and wanted a probe into the issue.

In February, the commission had directed the Medical Education Department to conduct a probe into the issue. Based on this, the Medical Education Department on July 15 constituted a committee of three members to probe the matter in detail and file a report within a month.

The members of the committee are – the Director and Dean of Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College and Research Centre in Bengaluru, the Chief Administrative Officer of Bengaluru Medical College and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Medical Education Department in Bengaluru.

H.R. Ramesh Kumar, a resident, has obtained the order appointing the committee by applying under the Right to Information Act.
