Owners asked to deposit arms

In view of the elections announced in Kakkera and Kembhavi, where gram panchayats were upgraded as town municipal councils recently, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain has directed licensed arms owners to deposit their weapons with the station house officer of their respective police jurisdiction.

In a release, Mr. Jain said that carrying weapons, arms and other articles which are danger to life, is prohibited between April 5 and April 28. The polls are scheduled for April 24, and the counting for April 27. The order is not applicable to nationalised banks.
