Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday described the Congress Government’s 100 days in office as “a small milestone” and said that more than 60 promises made to the electorate during the State Legislative Assembly elections had been implemented.
Addressing presspersons after releasing a booklet, “Hundred days, hundreds of resolutions” to mark the occasion, the Chief Minister said that all promises made in the Congress manifesto would be implemented during the full term.
“Nothing is impossible. All promises will be implemented. But we cannot implement all promises in 100 days. Whatever is possible, we have implemented,” he said. Though the performance of a government cannot be judged in 100 days, the Chief Minister said, the several decisions that the government had taken only indicated the direction it was moving in. “I am not here to assess the performance. The public and the press should assess it (performance),” he said.
The booklet contains 387 decisions taken by the government since it came to power.
Anna Bhagya
Speaking on the government’s flagship scheme Anna Bhagya, he said it had made a “very good impact on the poor people” in the State. Each below poverty line household saved Rs. 800 a month following the implementation of the scheme which ensured a 30 kg foodgrains (rice, jowar/ragi/wheat) per month for BPL families, he said. Now, the saved amount could be used for other needs such as education, he said.
The Chief Minister said that orders have been issued directing Assistant Commissioners to hold Pension Adalats at the hobli level to address grievances related to old age, widow and the physically challenged. Earlier, there was delay in the release of amount to pension beneficiaries, he said.
Despite the election code of conduct on account of bypolls to the Periyapatna Assembly constituency, the two Lok Sabha seats and the three Legislative Council seats, the government had fulfilled several promises. After a long gap, a 25-day Legislature session was held peacefully, he said.
Model code
As the model code of conduct is still in force on account of the byelections to the three Legislative Council seats, the Chief Minister refrained from announcing future plans of the government.
