A session on ‘safety measures while driving’ was conducted by traffic safety expert Amol Tope from Mumbai at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology here on Monday.

More than 300 students and staff members participated in the session.

Before an interactive session, Mr. Tope made an audio-visual presentation on precautions to be observed while driving.

He highlighted the difference between safe and defensive driving and pointed out that mishaps happened due to the lack of perception followed by error judgment and mind reflexes.

He also drew attention to how several top corporate establishments in and outside India followed stringent norms regarding safety measures while driving, even to the extent of terminating the services of its employees found booked and guilty for violating the traffic rules and regulations.

“Getting back to my family every single day without an injury is my gift and service to them,” he said and praised the institute for taking up this initiative on road safety measures for its students and staff.

GIT principal A.S. Deshpande was present.
