Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar has directed district officials to provide photo address proof to ensure that they stay at the headquarters.

District administration sources told The Hindu that Mr. Shivakumar, who is also the district in-charge Minister, in a meeting held here on Friday evening, took officials to task for their slackness in submitting photo address proof even after being instructed to do so immediately.

The Minister has issued strict instructions to the Panchayat Development Officers, revenue inspectors, village accountants, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) engineers and employees of other departments to submit their residence proof immediately, a senior Revenue Department official has said.

Departments, such as rural development and panchayat raj, revenue, public works, ports, inland and water transport, agriculture and horticulture play a big role in uplifting the poor and downtrodden, said the Minister.

A majority of government employees working in Mandya reside in Mysuru. They commute from Mandya to Mysuru and back by KSRTC buses or trains everyday.
