Deputy Commissioner V.P. Ikkeri has directed the officials of the Department of Tourism to install reflective information boards of tourist spots in the district at important public places like bus and railway terminals.

The initiative will sensitise people on important tourist spots in the district. In addition, the reflective information boards would help the tourists plan their sight seeing schedules properly, he said at a meeting of the District Tourism Committee here on Friday.

Apart from Jog, there are many places of attraction in the district like Agumbe, Kundadri and Kodachadri. The department should try to attract tourists to these places also.

He directed the officials to conduct meetings in each taluk on the measures needed to be taken to develop tourism and prepare a detailed report in this regard.

President of the zilla panchayat Kalagodu Ratnakar expressed displeasure over the alleged delay in completing the construction of dormitories at Ramachandrapur and Kudli. The government though had released necessary funds, the work had been delayed owing to the negligence of officials concerned, he alleged.

Rajya Sabha Member Ayanur Manjunath, R.K. Siddaramanna, MLC, and president of the Shivamogga City Corporation Khurshida Banu were present.
