Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain has instructed the Revenue and Panchayat officials concerned to attend to people’s problems, particularly drinking water scarcity, immediately.

Addressing a hobli-level meeting held at Wadagera village in Shahpur taluk on Wednesday, Mr. Jain, who earlier heard the problems being faced by the residents, most of them women, suggested to the officials to visit the areas where drinking water shortage is severe and provide water through tankers and submit a detailed report on the action taken.

He also directed the officials to complete flushing and deepening of borewells and drill new borewells on demand. He added that drinking water can be hired from private borewells, if the problem was severe.

Meanwhile, the participants complained to the Deputy Commissioner about officials’ negligence in responding to grievance calls. They also alleged that farmers were not distributed crop loss compensation.

In response, Mr. Jain assured them of action against such errant officials.

Ashok Reddy Gonal, zilla panchayat member, brought other issues, including work to remove silt from tanks, to Mr. Jain’s notice and sought relief.
