Officials prevent child marriage

On timely intervention by the officials of Women and Child Development Department, a child marriage was stopped in Borbanda tanda in Yadgir taluk on Monday.

According to Vanajakshi, Child Development and Protection Officer of Gurmitkal division, she got information about the child marriage on Monday morning and immediately went to the venue with officials and stopped the marriage by convincing the parents of both sides.

“Girl’s age is 16 years and boy’s is 23. We took undertaking from the parents of both and sent the girl to the Balamandir at Yadgir after producing her before the Child Welfare Committee” she said.

Lohit, Child Protection Officer, and Gurmitkal police were in the team.
