NWKRTC driver attempts suicide, alleges harassment by depot officials

A driver attached to Ron Depot of North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) attempted suicide allegedly due to harassment of senior officials.

Driver Subhashchandra Desaigouda attempted suicide on the depot premises by consuming poison and he was immediately shifted to the Ron Taluk Hospital. The Ron Police have registered a complaint.

Subhaschandra reportedly alleged that he was forced to take the extreme step following harassment of his superiors. Soon after the incident, the drivers and conducts attached to the depot resorted to snap protest seeking action against the officials in question. However, they withdrew the protest after senior officials of NWKRTC from Gadag assured them of requisite action.
