Following the clearance from the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), oil marketing companies hiked the prices of their premium fuel brands on Saturday, to bring them on a par with market rates.
Although the hike in prices of these fuels has been by Rs. 6.36 a litre for premium petrol and Rs. 19.55 a litre for premium diesel in the national capital, the increase in the city’s outlets was slightly more owing to the taxes imposed by the State government. Bharat Petroleum, which sells Speed Diesel, hiked the price of the fuel by Rs. 21.29 a litre. Hindustan Petroleum, which sells Power Petrol, hiked the fuel price by Rs. 6.96 a litre.
The new prices came into effect late on Saturday.
Indian Oil Corporation, which sells Xtra Premium Petrol and Xtra Mile Diesel, did not hike the prices. Company sources said their new prices would be in place by Monday.
