With the new Government in Karnataka all set to assume office following the scheduled swearing in of Mr Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister on Monday, the hands of 89-year-old Thomas, the plaque writer in Vidhana Soudha, will become busy all over again.
Mr Thomas has already begun his work by erasing the names of the Ministers in the outgoing BJP Government headed by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar by applying white paint since Thursday, a day after the results of the elections were declared.
Sitting at a corner of his workplace near the first floor canteen of Vidhana Soudha, Mr Thomas said it would be the eighteenth time he will be writing the name of the Chief Minister this time, the first being late chief minister D Devaraj Urs.
While the name of the next Chief Minister - Siddaramaiah - is already finalised, Mr Thomas is waiting for the names of the other Ministers and their portfolios.
His hands are expected to remain full for the next couple of weeks since there would be large-scale reshuffle in the top bureaucracy--in the levels of principal secretaries and secretaries, most of whose offices are situated in the Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat.
