The reservation of train tickets will be decentralised with the introduction of Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK), under public-private partnership model, at different centres of the Mysore Railway Division.
This was announced by Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Lal during the Republic Day celebrations organised by the Railways here on Monday.
Mr. Lal said such a facility would be set up in Mysuru, Shivamogga and Davangere to enable people to make reservations without going to the main station. This is an attempt to decentralise the ticket dispensation process, which will also reduce crowding at the main reservation centres. The concept is similar to the Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sewaks (JTBS) who issue unreserved tickets. Automatic Ticket Vending Machines will be introduced shortly at 23 locations in Mysore division, said Mr. Lal.
Addressing railway employees, he said the division had improved its performance and the originating freight load up to December 2014 was 2.673 million tonnes, compared to 2.388 million tonnes for the corresponding period in 2013.
The division has also earned Rs. 379.34 crore against the Rs. 342.24 crore earned during the same period last year.
Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendras will be introduced in Mysuru, Shivamogga, and Davangere
