In an age where online shopping has become a headache for retailers and local vendors, three city-based engineers have come up with a mobile application to help them.

The application ‘Locus Offers’ has been developed by the software company Coding Spider, started by Sanjay Kangralkar, Rizwan Dundkar and Adil Siddiqui, and is meant to help retailers and local vendors of Hubballi, Dharwad and Belagavi.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the three engineers said that their objective was to help the local vendors and retailers who were losing out to the online business.

Mr. Kangralkar said that people were buying online attracted by the discounts and offers. However they were not aware of the offers and discounts being extended by the local vendor or retailer which were competitive enough.

Mr. Kangralkar said that keeping the present developments in mind the mobile application was developed. “We will upload details of discounts and offers being given by the local shops and the users can access the same through the mobile application,” he said.

The app has twenty two categories of products and services. While 20 shops have registered with the company as of now, the queries they are getting are increasing day by day.

Mr. Kangralkar said that the plan was to offer cash on delivery and other online services in the coming days. Minister for IT, BT, Science and Technology will launch the mobile application on Saturday and it can be downloaded from Google Play Store.
