The Election Officer has served a notice to former Minister V. Srinivas Prasad for giving an old woman ₹100.

Mr. Prasad, who is the BJP candidate in the ensuing by-polls to Legislative Assembly from Nanjangud constituency, had allegedly handed over a ₹100 note to Puttathayama, an old woman, from Devarasanahalli on Sunday.

A photograph of Mr. Prasad handing over the currency note to the old woman had appeared in a section of the media, said the notice issued by the Election Officer on Monday.

Accusing Mr. Prasad of violating the poll code by giving money, the Election Officer has asked the BJP candidate to respond within 24 hours.
