Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Monday night said the State would be unable to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu any more in view of poor storage in the reservoirs, and what was conveyed by the government in the Supreme Court through its counsel Fali Nariman was the stand of the Bharatiya Janata Party government.
Mr. Shettar told journalists that the State would file another review petition before Prime Minister and Cauvery River Authority chairman Manmohan Singh on Tuesday to reconsider his September 19 order, asking Karnataka to release 9,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu (which was later upheld by the Supreme Court) from September 20 to October 15.
Water release stopped

The Karnataka government stopped the release of water to Tamil Nadu from the Krishnaraja Sagar reservoir on Monday night. Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. Executive Engineer Vijay Kumar told The Hindu that officials stopped releasing water at 7.30 p.m.
“The outflow of water from the KRS is 300 cusecs to various canals for irrigation purposes,” he said.
