With the entire State facing severe drought for the last few months, the government has decided against transferring officials involved in drought relief works for the next three months.

Minister for Revenue Kagodu Thimmappa told presspersons on Wednesday that officials such as deputy commissioners, chief executive officers, assistant commissioners, tahsildars, and panachayat development officers (PDOs) were involved in such works in villages.

Disciplinary action would be taken against those officials seeking transfers. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had agreed to the decision, he said.

Mr. Thimmappa said ₹ 2 crore has been sanctioned to task forces headed by legislators for implementing drought relief works. On an average, all deputy commissioners have ₹ 8-10 crore at their disposal and they can utilise the fund for implementing relief works in 160 drought-hit taluks, he added.
