Despite economic slowdown and a volatile job market, about 651 students of BE, MCA and M.Tech courses from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) managed to get jobs in just 10 weeks.
More than 30 companies have recruited the students and around 50 companies are expected to conduct campus recruitment until March 2015.
Shravya G.S., who completed her BE in Information Science and Engineering from SJCE, bagged the highest pay package – Rs. 16.20 lakh per annum.
Disclosing this to presspersons here on Thursday, SJCE Principal Syed Shakeeb Ur Rahman said the college had recorded 95 per cent placements in ‘circuit branches’ – electronics and communication, computer sciences and engineering and Information Technology – and 60 to 75 per cent placements in other branches. Those who could not land jobs in the campus recruitment bagged good jobs within six months, he said. To a query, Mr. Rahman said recession had in no way affected the placements of SJCE students. Thanks to the alumni of this institution and the reputation the college commands, the students got placed in top companies, he said.
Mr. Rahman said M.Tech admissions through GATE had gone up substantially this year.
“This is a good sign and indicates that students want to pursue higher studies in the country.”
Tie-upThe SJCE has tied-up with the British Council and USA Consulate to impart knowledge to students aspiring to pursue their higher studies in those countries.
SJCE has entered into an understanding with Infosys to conduct training programmes under the Campus Connect programme.
