Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Tuesday used the innuendo, made by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi that the Congress should stop showing its hand and instead show the face of the leader who will take over as the next Chief Minister if it wins, to his party’s advantage.
Participating in a meet-the-press programme organised by the Bangalore Reporters’ Guild and Press Club of Bangalore, he said the party shows its hand, because it is clean and hence there was no need to project a face.
Promise
To a specific question on whether his party, as a counter to Operation Lotus, would indulge in Operation Hand if it fails to gain a majority in the Assembly, Dr. Parameshwara made a solemn promise that his party would not indulge in such an exercise. He sais the Congress is a national party run by collective leadership.
Krishna’s absence
On the absence of the former External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna at the party’s manifesto release function last week , Dr. Parameshwara said all the leaders could not afford to attend all the meetings. Different leaders were working in their areas of influence, he added.
