You may not be able to refuel your vehicle if it does not possess the mandatory ‘pollution under control certificate’ (emission certificate) in Bengaluru city.
The State government on Wednesday told the High Court of Karnataka that a notification to stop supply of fuel to vehicles not possessing such certificates is being issued by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, which regulates the fuel stations.
Additional Advocate-General A.S. Ponnanna made these submissions before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice Ram Mohan Reddy while appraising the court about the actions taken by various agencies of the State to bring down the levels of air and noise pollution, which are high in several localities of the city.
The draft notification for stopping fuel supply to such vehicles is ready and it would be notified shortly, Mr. Ponnanna said. The notification is being issued following the directions issued by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board in August 2014 for bringing down pollution levels.
