Janata Dal (Secular) Floor Leader in the Legislative Council M.C. Nanaiah on Wednesday asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to introspect on whether he could deliver what he had promised immediately after assuming office — a transparent administration, corruption-free governance and bringing the administration on track.
If one looks back these eight months, one would see no difference between the BJP government and the Congress government, Mr. Nanaiah said.
Responding to the Governor’s address to the joint session of the State legislature here, Mr. Nanaiah said it did not require eight months for Mr. Siddaramaiah to ensure the three principal assurances. Sadly, corruption has been rampant in administration and the political executive has failed to get work done by the bureaucracy, he said.
Promise Recalling the previous Governor’s address soon after the Congress government assumed office, Mr. Nanaiah said Mr. Siddaramaiah had said Congress was voted to power due to the misdeeds of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He had also promised to bring a quantum change in administration.
BSR Congress leader B. Sriramulu ridiculed the Governor’s address and asked the government to re-examine the contents as a majority of them were irrelevant. While over 1,300 people had been murdered in the State in 2013, the Governor complimented maintenance of law and order situation in the State. The State is passing through a very bad financial situation; power supply has become erratic in rural areas and there was total failure in enforcing the Right to Education Act, Mr. Sriramulu said.
